Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) is a non-invasive method that measures blood pressure at regular intervals over 24 hours while patients go about their daily activities, including sleep. Using a portable device on the arm, it records readings every 15 to 30 minutes, offering a comprehensive view of blood pressure fluctuations.
Traditional monitoring in clinical settings with a sphygmomanometer may miss such variations and be affected by white coat hypertension or masked hypertension. ABPM overcomes these limitations by providing a complete picture of blood pressure throughout the day and night.
